Story & Atmosphere
Kowloon House West Avenue stands as a notable culinary spot nestled at 16 West Ave Corner Times St, Quezon City, Metro Manila. This eatery caters to lovers of authentic Chinese comfort food, offering a diverse menu that highlights dim sum, noodles, and classic viands like spicy spareribs, patatim, and the ever-popular chicken feet dishes. Its strategic location near Quezon Avenue and Timog makes it accessible for both locals and visitors craving hearty, flavorful meals.
One of the unique features of Kowloon House West Avenue is its newly established drive-thru and dedicated take-out areas. These separate zones streamline orders for dim sum, dumplings, and ala carte dishes, reflecting the brand’s adaptability especially amid challenging times like the recent pandemic. This convenience, paired with affordable pricing, adds to the overall positive dining experience.
The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and functional. While parking may be limited and the space somewhat cozy with an al fresco vibe, the establishment tries to accommodate guests with function rooms upstairs and attentiveness to health safety protocols. Staff friendliness and helpfulness have been noted, adding warmth to the practical setup.
When it comes to the food itself, the dishes evoke warmth and familiarity. The “Special” pansit served in a bilao offers a generous, flavorful portion that's perfect for sharing. Fried chicken remains a crowd favorite, as do the crispy noodles and butchi. The beef noodles come with a comforting broth and tender beef, embodying the essence of Chinese comfort cuisine. Some reviews mention occasional shortages of viands and the dryness of certain dishes like Canton noodles, but overall, the food arrives hot, fresh, and satisfying.
On the beverage front, expect classic pairings such as milk tea, black gulaman, and sodas, with some patrons noting that drink refills require staff assistance rather than self-service. The place’s 24-hour operation and videoke offerings contribute to its lively, accessible character, inviting customers to linger beyond mealtime.
In all, Kowloon House West Avenue merges convenience, comfort, and affordable dining. It caters well to both quick meals through its drive-thru and more relaxed dining occasions within its premises. For those seeking hearty Chinese flavors in Quezon City, it remains a dependable choice worth revisiting.
“ They have: A new Drive Thru area, A take out area for Dimsum, Dumplings, Siomai, Noodles, Milk Tea, Sodas, Black Gulaman etc They have a separate Take Out area for Kowloon Ala Carte Dishes. Congratulations for surviving the Pandemic, Kowloon House! ”
“ The taste of the food was ok. My fav was spicy spareribs and patatim. Canton was too dry. Assorted dimsum to choose from but not much choices for desert. You have to ask the waiter to refill your drinks. I like it better when you can get them yourself, so you don't have to leave a tip. ”
“ The location is good. Close to Quezon Ave. and Timog if you're in the area. There's limited parking available. The place is somewhat cramped, with al fresco feel, so there would be some waiting time for a table on busy nights. The food though is excellent and reasonable. Try the "Special" pansit in a bilao, fried chicken and of course the chicken feet dishes. Will come again on less busy nights. ”
“ Still best tasting however many viands were not available ”
“ We ordered in Drive thru, sad to say you can only order siopao, siomai etc in the Drive thru store. If you want wanton mami, beef mami, etc, you have to park your car and order in their other dine in store..But all their menus taste great and very affordable.. ”
